Dunkin' Donuts Fundraiser Benefits Jacksonville School for Autism

Jacksonville, FL: The Jacksonville School for Autism will be the local beneficiary of Dunkin' Donuts' 2013 "Community Cups" fundraiser, which launched Monday. Customers at Jacksonville area Dunkin' Donuts who make a $1 donation will receive a "Community Cup" to sign and display at the restaurant. Fifty percent of the proceeds will go to the School for Autism, according to a news release. The remainder of the money raised will benefit the Dunkin' Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation and will be designated for grants to charities in the Southeast that focus on hunger relief, safety and children's health, according to the release.   www,fundraisingweb.org

Animal Shelter Hosts ‘Zombie Tag’ Fundraiser

Fayetteville, AR: There’s a zombie invasion coming to Fayetteville this month, and just in time for Halloween.  The Fayetteville Animal Shelter and Maverick’s Place Small Dog Rescue will host a “Zombie Tag” fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Lake Fayetteville Park. Zombie tag is exactly what it sounds like. The games begins with a few zombies and a bunch of “humans” who will be sent on missions through the zombie infected grounds. The zombies chase the humans, capture their arm tag, and the humans become zombies. Humans will also be able to stun zombies by throwing marshmallows at them. Prizes will be awarded for the last human survivor and the most infectious zombie. Kids of all ages are welcome to play, but the trails around Lake Fayetteville are steep and rugged in parts, so shelter officials are urging caution. The event will also include activities for young children. The zombie tag game is facilitated by the folks behind the Eureka Springs Zombie Crawl, and they made a video with tips on how to play. Registration is $5 per person, or $20 for a family. T-shirts are also available for pre-order to be picked up the day of the event.  www.fundraisingweb.org

Church Fundraiser Cooks Up a Lesson in Farming

North Lima, OH: A valley church is expanding its mission to teach farming with its annual fundraiser. This is the third year for the fundraiser, Harvest of Hope, held by the Common Ground Church Community. The event features chefs from seven restaurants and catering companies that cook dishes using locally grown, seasonal ingredients. Proceeds benefit the Goodness Grows program that teaches people how to farm. "We're focused on agricultural training for 2014 for special needs adults and high school students, as well as a general program for a one year course at the Joseph Badger Meadows Camp. It's welcome to anybody in the Fall of 2014," says Greg Bowman, Executive Director of Goodness Grows. More than 300 people attended Thursday's Harvest of Hope. Nursery School hosts 'Big Trucks' fundraiser

Marcellus, NY - Between the blaring horns, police sirens and, of course, the huge trucks, Skaneateles Nursery School's "Big Trucks" fundraiser lived up to its name. Spread throughout a large area of the quarry were a number of trucks, vehicles and haulers, their time donated by a number of owners and organizations including a New York State Police SUV, a fire truck from the Auburn Fire Department and even a trolley from Big D's Limo Service in Auburn. Children, nursery school students or otherwise, were invited on a guided tour inside of the trucks, allowed to blare the horns, turn the steering wheel - most anything short of actually driving them.   www.fundraisingweb.org

Fire Department Bra Fundraiser

Barnstable, MA: Fundraiser for breast cancer awareness by two fire departments on Cape Cod met with complaints from some residents. Barnstable and West Barnstable fire departments were collecting bras and donations during breast cancer awareness month. They placed a pink ladder out in front of the station and asked people to donate bras to hang on the ladder and to make monetary donations to bring awareness to breast cancer and to find a cure for it. Some people complained it was tacky which prompted Barnstable Fire Department to take down the bras and replace them with ribbons.
