Fox River Shiver 2nd Annual Fundraising Event

Port Barrington, IL – The Broken Oar in Port Barrington, will host its second annual Fox River Shiver on March 9.  The event features costumed volunteers braving the icy waters of the Fox River to raise money for Lurie Children’s Hospital, according to a news release.  Participants are needed to form teams of four or more and obtain pledges or donations from family, friends or business associates. Participants also can enter individually. Six lower river establishments already have committed to participate in the event.   Spectators are asked to buy souvenir pins for a $5 donation to attend the event.  On the day of the event, there is a VIP pre-party in the party tent for registered participants starting at noon. The plunge will be at 2 p.m., and awards and live entertainment will start at 3 p.m.  Last year’s event drew more than 75 participants and hundreds of spectators and raised more than $10,000 for the Lurie Children’s Hospital.  www.fundraisingweb.org

Laser Tag Fundraising Event to Benefit St. Jude's

Utica, NY - Rebecca Jones’ elementary-school-age children Max, Sally and Cooper love to sell rubber band bracelets, their artwork, lemonade, even Halloween candy to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in memory of their brother, Sam. Their efforts to support St. Jude led to the creation of a special kids’ oriented Laser Tag event held on Feb. 27 at Zap Zone Fun Center in Utica. “They are very aware of what I do when we do fundraisers, especially ones they can’t come to like the golf outing and stuff like that,” Jones said. “We had a bowling fundraiser one year, but we needed to do a kids’ one because they really are starting to understand it now.”  www.fundraisingweb.org

Betting on Courage Annual Fundraising Event

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda Fundraising Event

Dickson, TN - Dickson’s local community theater troupe, The Renaissance Players, has found a second chance at life and will hold their first fundraising event next month for “Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda.”  “Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda” will be a fundraising performance showcasing The Renaissance Players and other members of the community. If you have ever had that one song that you Woulda done if..... or Coulda done but.... or Shoulda done except for.... then this night is for you. Get Down For Downs Syndrome Fundraiser

Fairlawn, OH — A Medina couple is working to deliver laughs to raise funds to benefit the Down Syndrome (DS) community. Rob and Ellen Snow organized the nonprofit organization Stand Up For Downs (SUFD) in 2012 after the birth of their son, Henry, in 2009. The organization presents stand-up comedy shows in support of programs and services that benefit the DS community. It also presents an annual fundraiser, Get Down For Down Syndrome.  The event, sponsored by the Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board, is the organization’s biggest fundraiser.  Natalie Herbick, of Fox 8 Cleveland’s “New Day Cleveland,” will be the master of ceremonies, and 1970s’ disco entertainment and dancing, as well as a silent auction, a chance raffle and other activities are planned. Burlesque Fundraiser

Port Angeles, WA — “Banking on Burlesque: A Presidential Affair” is the name of a fundraising event for Port Angeles High School student Zachary Davis' travel to Washington, D.C., to play trumpet with the school band this spring.  The “Affair” will be held at Bar N9ne, Admission is a $5 donation. It will star dancers, drag queens and kings, and burlesque performers Kiki Cat, Ginger Le Ame Voleur, Siouxzie Q, Gothic Lolita, Noxious Oxalis and Jakkie Kelevra.  This event, hosted by the PA Cabaret troupe, also features mistress of ceremonies Salmonella Rivière.  It is for the 21-and-older crowd, so Zachary, 15, won't be able to attend.But his family members and friends, who are enthusiastic performance artists, hope to raise money to cover the $1,400 cost of traveling to the nation's capital with the Port Angeles High concert band.  www.fundraisingweb.org

Bourbon and Bowties Fundraiser

Longview, TX - Longview World of Wonder’s first Bourbon and Bowties fundraiser brought in more than $28,000 for the proposed children’s discovery center, event chairman Cole Tomberlain said Friday. “We had limited seating of 200 tickets, and we did sell out for the event,” Tomberlain said. “For a first-year event we were extremely excited to sell out. That was one of our goals going into this. We wanted to have a specific number of seats, and we wanted to sell out, so next year, people would buy their tickets early.”  www.fundraisingweb.org
