Doctor Wins Hunk of the Year at Fundraiser in Erath County, TX
Erath County, TX - Fishermen, cowboys, and shirtless hunks, oh my! Meals on Wheels fundraiser was filled with all that and more — all in the name of charity. The 2013 Hunks of Erath County contest and bachelor auction raised more than $10,000 to help the Erath County Meals on Wheels. Dr. Kevin Vanden Berge won the title. Participants strutted their stuff on the catwalk in both business and casual attire while answering questions and working the judges a bit. It was apparent there was a little bribery afoot, but none of the judges seemed to mind. www.fundraisingweb.org

Friends Throw Golf Fundraiser for Ailing Avid Fundraiser
Coventry, Ireland - Jim Roche, known locally as ‘Roachy’, is a familiar face and avid fundraiser for good causes across the region, but a recent stroke has left him bedridden. So friends have organized a charity fundraising day to help raise cash to support the Dublin-native and his family through his condition. Friend and event organizer Tony Carey explained: “Throughout my time knowing Roachy, he has always been honest, reliable, respected and never turned down a request for help – but most of all, he is the life and soul of any room that he enters.” He added: “But due to recent poor health, it is now time for us to raise some support for the man himself.” So the community will come together to support Mr Roche and his family at a fundraising golf day and social evening – the proceeds of which will be donated to the family to aid his care and health. www.fundraisingweb.org

Annual Fish Fry Fundraiser a Huge Success
Monticello, AR - According to Drew County Log-A-Load Committee Chair and volunteer, Gay Pace, the annual fish fry fundraiser was a huge success Saturday night at the First Assembly of God Church in Monticello. “We were pleasantly surprised at the large turnout Saturday night,” she said. “We had 400-plus people to attend and that marks the largest crowd we’ve had in the event’s history.” Log-A-Load Arkansas, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, is a part of a nationwide giving campaign through which loggers and others contribute to local Children’s Miracle Network-affiliated hospitals to provide medical care to kids in need, regardless of their families’ ability to pay. www.fundraisingweb.org
