Day at the Races Fundraiser

Lithgow, Australia - There’re some good ways to raise funds for the less disadvantaged … and then there’re some fun ways.  One of the fun ways was Lithgow Quota’s latest fundraiser for deaf and hearing impaired children in the Lithgow area — a bus trip to the Rosehill Races.  Included in the bus trip was entry to the races, under cover three course wining and dining with access to the TAB and outside viewing areas. Fifteen Quota members invited husbands and friends to come along, with more than 60 making the trip.  The race winners were the grinners on the trip home but a great day was had by all with a pleasing amount being raised to go to help deaf and hearing impaired children.  www.fundraisingweb.org 

This Fundraiser is a Freak Show

Fort Wayne, IN - Amanda Zimmerman, also known by her stage name, Viviane Sweets, says performance troupe The Beautiful Freakshow was born out of a need to do performances not usually seen in Fort Wayne.  Mission accomplished.  Known to perform acrobatics and glass walking, members decide what they want to do and practice together until it’s performance-ready. Their eccentric acts will headline Fifth Freedom’s fundraising event and silent auction Sunday.  With Fifth Freedom continuing to grow its services for disabled communities statewide, the third annual fundraiser raises the stakes with hula hoopers, dancers, an LED light show and Zimmerman’s bed-of-nails performance.  Comedic magician Doug Schmidt will also be part of the event’s entertainment, offering audiences his predictions of the future.  www.fundraisingweb.org

The Wurst Challenge Fundraiser

Ypsilanti, MI — A fundraising event in Michigan plans to pit participants with big appetites against 20-foot-long bratwursts that weigh close to six pounds.  The Wurst Challenge to benefit the FLY Children's Art Center is scheduled for Thursday evening. The event is hosted by Ypsilanti's Wurst Bar, the New Holland Brewing Co., blogger Mark Maynard and others. It's a fundraiser for nonprofit FLY's Creativity Lab in Ypsilanti.  The Ann Arbor News reported earlier this month that the bar will donate 10 cents an inch for the sausage consumed. Participants also are raising money separately. Awards will be given to the biggest eater as well as the one with the best bratwurst-eating style.  www.fundraisingweb.org

Fundraising Events to Help 3-year Old Walk

Nottinghamshire , UK - Fundraising events will take place across Nottinghamshire to pay for surgery which could help a child walk for the first time.  Three-year-old Theo Hunt suffers from spastic diplegia [a type of cerebral palsy]. He was due to have selective dorsal rhizotomy surgery at Queen’s Medical Centre in February, which could have given him the ability to walk.  However, funding for the £45,000 operation was pulled by NHS England as Theo was missing one of the tests required for the selective surgery, despite a number of other families getting the go-ahead.  Theo’s mum, Melissa Hunt, pledged to raise the money herself for the operation after the heartbreaking decision and is even considering taking Theo to America for treatment.  www.fundraisingweb.org

Restaurant Takeover Fundraiser

Lacey, WA – The RAM Restaurant recently donated $504.74 to Evergreen Forest Elementary School through a successful School Takeover Fundraising Program. “The RAM is proud to give back to the local communities in which they serve. We have donated thousands of dollars to neighborhood schools through our restaurant takeover fundraising events and look forward to continuing to host Lacey area programs,” said Lacey Store Leader, Jason Strayer.  Schools taking part in this program choose an evening to invite family and friends to dine out at the RAM. Teachers and staff team up with RAM servers to take orders and provide a fun and interactive event paired with great RAM food! Baubles, Bangles and Beads Fundraising Event

Corvallis, OR - Altrusa International of Corvallis is collecting donations of jewelry for its Baubles, Bangles and Beads fundraising event on May 3. New, used, estate, fine, handmade and costume jewelry are wanted. Damaged and broken pieces also would be accepted.  Proceeds from the fundraising event in May help to fund local projects such as the Career Closet for women who need workforce clothing, literacy events in local Head Start classrooms, scholarships and other community service projects locally and internationally to support women. www.fundraisingweb.org
