Foodgrains Bank Fundraising Auction

Ponoka, Alberta - Organizers of the 13th annual Canadian Foodgrains Bank Fundraising Auction in Ponoka are expecting another banner event. “We’re hoping for 60 to 70 animals to be donated,” said Arnie Tenbrinke, one of the event’s organizers. “This year we’re also stepping things up a bit by offering a free lunch.”  The lunch, Tenbrinke is quick to point out is donated, as is everything at the April 22 event, held at the Vold, Jones and Vold Auction Company facility. Along with the donated dairy and beef cattle — ranging from heifers to cull cows — individuals and companies donate hay, semen, tickets to sporting events, and many other items. Every penny raised goes to the Foodgrains Bank.  “We usually raise about $60,000 to $70,000,” said Tenbrinke. “And the government matches what we raise four to one, so that’s what gets me really excited.”www.fundraising-ideas.org

Fundraiser for Lost Classmate

Weybridge, Surrey, UK -  A week of fundraising events have taken place at Norton College in memory of one of its students,  Organized by theYear 11 pupils, over £2,200 was raised for St Catherine's Hospice and Dyslexia Action, the charities chosen by the family of Alex Bradley who died in road traffic accident on the A64. Deputy pastoral leader, Gemma McDonald said the fundraising week had been student-led with a football tournament, sponge the teacher, daily tuck-shop and bake sale.   Alex's twin brothers Lachlan and Isaac, who attend the school, also took part in a sponsored silence while three pupils walked 15 miles to school raising £600. www.fundraising-ideas.org 

5K/10K Fundraising Event for Lupus

Bloomfield, IN - Participants in an upcoming 5K/10K event in Bloomfield are urged to run, jog, walk, or crawl to help find a cure for the chronic autoimmune disease known as lupus. All proceeds go to the Lupus Foundation of Indiana, Indiana Chapter.   This fundraiser proceeds will be presented at "The Walk to End Lupus Now" Walk, Lupus Foundation of America; Indiana Chapter on September 27th, 2014.  Lupus is a chronic disease that can cause damage to virtually any organ in the body, especially the skin, joints, blood, and kidneys. However, lupus is many cases is very difficult to diagnose and even tougher to treat. Spanish Culture Fundraising Event at the Rialto

Florence, CO— The Spanish culture is one of the most beautiful and renowned in the world, and it was brought to Florence on Saturday night at a fundraising event for the historic Rialto Theatre's renovation project.  "People really enjoyed the Spanish experience," said Suzanne Phipps, project manager for the Rialto. Tip a Soldier Fundraising Event

White County., IN – A fundraiser in Monticello Saturday night helped make sure veterans have the chance to visit our nation’s capital.  The Tip A Soldier event took place at the Oakdale Dam Inn, with the soldiers acting as servers and working for tips.  The event raised money to help fund Lafayette’s Honor Flight Program.  The Honor Flight Program began back in 2012. Since then, six flights and a total of 480 veterans have made the trip to Washington, D.C.  Co-president Pam Mow said this is just one of many fundraising events they hold throughout the year.  “It costs us $65,000 a flight and, like I said, we have three flights this year,” said Mow. “So, it’s quite an undertaking to raise all of that money. Six Year Old Organizes Fundraiser

Burhurst Hill, England - A six-year-old organized a charity event for a children’s hospital. Oscar Edwards, of Buckhurst Way in Buckhurst Hill, staged a lucky dip and tombola to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital on Wednesday.  Oscar's mother Theresa Edwards said: “I’m very proud of him. “He just comes up with these ideas but this one became a bigger thing and he thought of charging people to do it and giving the money to charity.” Oscar invited friends, family and neighbors to take part and advertised the event with a poster.   The Buckhurst Hill Primary School pupil delegated certain jobs to his workforce in order to get the event ready in time. www.fundraisingweb.org
